Casa Vieja

Identity / Packaging / Signage / Printed material

Traditional Spanish cuisine with a modern elegant twist.

Casa Vieja is a Spanish restaurant located in the old sector of the city of Nicosia. Its name was inspired by the building where it is housed; a converted traditional 19th century residence made of sandstone and featuring decorative architectural elements of the same era.

The development of the identity was guided by a combination of two main components, the elegance of typography used in classic Spanish literature and the intricacy of patterns found in vintage Spanish tiles.

The final design is a product of the reinterpretation of historical material, decorative features and a vintage colour palette evoking a sense of the past within a contemporary setting.

The logo is a composition of the lowercase letters “c” and “v” set in Galliard. The letters follow a sequence of transformations creating a pattern reminiscent of decorative tiles.

A subtle palette of gold and teal compliments the elegance of the letters in the wordmark.
